The role of FIN is to give intensive pre start and start up support to the residents and businesses of Newcastle’s disadvantaged areas. The companies work alongside Business Link North East (BLNE) and complement their offering in the city.

FIN offers one to one support and help with all aspects of pre start and start up support. The company also delivers post start up mentoring for 6 months before handing clients on to BLNE.

Enterprise Made Simple are going to be running some workshops over the next 2 years around Enterprise Exploration. The workshop is based around the family favourite 'Monopoly' and allows individuals to look at what is involved in self employment and starting a business. Business networking
We will run a series of monthly networking meetings, essentially working on action learning principles. These groups will provide the opportunity both for businesses to explore solutions to issues as well as being opportunities to consult with businesses regarding wider regional issues and their potential business impact.
Each quarter we will organise a Key Issue Conference designed to explore solutions to issues arising either from the networking groups, skills seminars or elsewhere involving wider participation than either the groups or seminars.

Corporate Social responsibility (CSR)

We will manage a process of individual mentoring and peer support and hold an annual awards event to celebrate success amongst participants.
These activities will be supported by a web accessible Managed Learning Environment known as C-HUB - C-HUB will allow all users access to communities of interest, on line mentoring, a library of resources and web conferencing, amongst many other tools.

Procurement
The programme will enable businesses to win procurement related business, both from the Public Sector and from major private sector organisations.
SMEs will receive advice, guidance, assistance and consultancy to help them improve their business development skills, particularly in relation to bidding and tender writing. Training will be delivered both through workshops and one-to-one sessions with the SMEs.
SMEs will also have the opportunity to meet and sell directly to key buyers from Newcastle and the surrounding area, using the “Meet the Buyer” brokered meeting model.
