Artist opportunity - Public Art for Tees Heritage Park
Friends of Tees Heritage Park is pleased to announce the launch of a Competitive Interview for a series of artist-designed gateway features for the Tees Heritage Park.
Friends of Tees Heritage Park working in partnership with Groundwork North East and Stockton Borough Council, invites artists or art companies to submit an application for the design of the gateway features which will define the boundaries of the park, interpret the area’s heritage and create a real sense of place. Design workshops involving the local community will be a central element of the design process.
The Tees Heritage Park phase one is the stretch of the River Tees corridor which borders Ingleby Barwick, Preston Hall an Park, Bowesfield an Thornaby, covering an area of approximately 1,000,000m2.
The Tees Heritage Park is a visionary concept which will celebrate and enhance a unique and highly attractive stretch of countryside in the heart of the Tees Valley. The project has the strong backing of local communities who will play a key role in its delivery.
Up to four artists/ arts companies will be short-listed to interview stage and invited to demonstrate their suitability to the Selection Panel. The winner will need to demonstrate an empathy, realism and understanding of commissioning clients' expectations and abilities.
Expressions of interest are invited from all suitably experienced designers, artists and fabricators, including details of relevant experience and a brief outline of how they would approach the design.
