€50,000 Prize On Offer For Best Documentary Film Creating Social Impact

The inaugural PUMA.Creative Impact Award is looking for a feature length documentary film that will leave a lasting effect on people’s lives.

The PUMA.Creative Impact Award is run in partnership by PUMA and the Channel 4 British Documentary Film Foundation (BRITDOC). First announced last year, the award is designed to recognise a feature length documentary film which has demonstrated the potential to stimulate the most significant social impact and leave a lasting effect on the world and people's lives.

The competition is open to films and nominations from any country. The film must be 75 minutes or more in duration and have been released within the past three years (on or after 01 November 2007).

Filmmakers must be able to demonstrate the social impact of their film through:

* Audience numbers.
* Press impact and public awareness.
* Use of film in schools programmes.
* Use of film in community engagement programmes.
* Use of film as a campaign tool by an NGO or Foundation partner.
* Political impact of the film as a lobbying tool or for policy change.
* Corporate change caused by the film, creating internal review or change in corporate policy.
* Consumer impact caused by the film, evidenced in change of attitude or purchasing decisions.

Nominations can be submitted by anyone - suggestions include filmmakers, distributors, film festivals, NGO and Foundation partner organisations, film critics or journalists.

Submissions will initially be considered by the editorial team at the Channel 4 BRITDOC Foundation to create a short list of 20 films. The short list will be reviewed by a committee of industry peers to determine five nominees. These five films will be judged by the PUMA.Creative Impact jury (including the maker of “Supersize Me”, Morgan Spurlock, and Queen Noor of Jordan) to determine the winner, to be announced at the annual PUMA.Creative and Channel 4 BRITDOC Foundation Gala and Awards Ceremony in autumn 2011.

THE DEADLINE FOR NOMINATIONS IS 01 APRIL

Entries must be submitted via the competition website
