In this newsletter we will be publishing research and analysis, as sliced and diced by MyCake, from our new Culture Benchmark of arts organisations. The Culture Benchmark was set up in order to enable arts organisations to compare their approaches to income development, cost management and overall sustainability with others in their sector, anonymously and confidentially. We have taken common structures such as the Regularly Funded Organisations (RFO) annual survey so that the audience data entered in the RFO survey can be benchmarked in the Culture Benchmark. We've also developed a standardised Profit & Loss sheet that enables you to compare not just your total income and your grant levels, but also the types of earned income that your organisation generates. Finally we've included both some profile information (to help you filter the results and therefore compare your organisation to ones of similar size, region, scale etc) and a prototype of a sustainability index. For the last ten months we've been running a pilot with some 25 arts organisations and we're pleased to announce that the Culture Benchmark service is now up and running and contains data on some 170 organisations across England, Wales & Scotland. Initial research Whilst the technical team has been getting on with system developments we've been crunching the numbers from the pilot study.
