practical resources for world domination

Isn’t it stange how you start having conversations that lead to conversations that all start connecting in a way that’s a bit weird! My friend Cath just introduced me to Chris Guillebeau and his website – the art of non conformity. I think some of you who’ve been to making it_ events would really like his stuff so I’m passing him on! I particularly enjoyed reading 279 days for overnight success: an unconventional journey to full time writing. He’s talking about blogging but I think there’s lots of tips in here about approaches to marketing that aren’t icky. And if blogging is part of your marketing strategy, he has lots to say that you might consider.

I also liked Havi Brooks at fluentself.com – she has some really good ideas for how to deal with stuff like fear, and being stuck, as well as ideas about the art and science of pricing, some if not all of which you might like – you can also see how she’s using the blog to create a market. There’s other references on Chris’s site that I haven’t followed but if you find something good, let me know and I’ll post it here!

Next thing I turned on Radio 4 at some unearthly hour of the morning and found myself tuning in to a discussion about the work of Martin Seligman and  positive psychology. The fact that I can tell you this is proof that I dragged myself into consciousness enough to get pen and paper and write his name down. Talk at the learning event had partly been about the sort of things you don’t learn at school or get a qualification in, but that you need to know for life, like how to know what makes you really happy. So for those of you who were there, and those who weren’t but for whom this has a certain resonance, check out his website; aptly named authentic happiness…if you like doing personality questionaires, your day will be made!

And there’s more resources here

If you’ve found making it_ useful, please make us happy and pass the word on to friends!
